The simple adventures of our highly entertaining little family

This has been a big week of firsts for Isaac! On Monday we found a tooth peeking up through his gums! There's not much to see, but you can feel it. And believe me, when Isaac thinks the milk isn't coming fast enough I feel it!

Also Isaac got his first haircut! It was getting long. He has such pretty eyes that people kept asking if he was a girl. Well, what says "I'm a boy" better than a buzz cut? Besides with it being so warm his hair would get all sweaty. Here's a couple before pictures.
Lydia prepping his hair.

He took to the buzzers remarkably well. I worried that he'd be afraid of the noise and I'd have to use sharp scissors on such an active head. But he did great! He wanted to watch the buzzers, which made it hard, but he found an attachement comb and that held his attention. Luckily it was a only a couple minute procedure. Lydia held his hand the whole time. She is so sweet to him!

And here's the new 'do. What a cutie!

"Yes, I am irresistable. Any more questions?."
Lydia and Isaac play so well together! I can honestly say having two kids is way more fun than just one. Yesterday I found Lydia had piled almost every toy in the playroom onto Isaac's tummy time blanket. Lydia informed me that it was the bus. So she and Isaac had to "ride the bus" to play with toys. It was hilarious! And so creative. Kids are so amazing.

And a little video of Isaac enjoying Lydia's birthday too...

Yesterday was Lydia's 3rd birthday!!! What an awesomely fun day! I felt like it was MY birthday! We started the day with pancakes. I tried my hand at fancy shaped pancackes. It was a bit harder than I thought. I liked it when Lydia said "ooh, mommy, now make a circle!" Those I could do! In the end Lydia got a heart and a flower and I ended up with a couple amoeboid looking ones. Then into the tub for a long over due bath...
Two adorable kids playing together
One adorable baby brother!
In the afternoon I had to run to Home Depot, so we stopped at PetSmart to pet kitties! Too bad I didn't bring the camera.
BUT on the topic of petting things... when we got home Mike and Lydia went out to swing while I fed Isaac inside. They came back in, Mike carrying a surprise. A baby bunny they found in the yard! Too cool! Lydia would have loved to keep it, she was so good with it, but we knew we couldn't. But seriously, how cool is that?

As for presents Lydia had been so patient! For days she'd been telling me "I want to open my birthday." But the wait was well worth it. What birthday is complete without a large, soft alligator?
Or a bounce-on ball?Lydia's cake request was a pink cake with hearts and strawberry inside. It's a white four layer cake (ever since I started doing 4 layers I can never go back to just two) with diced strawberries and frosting alternately between the layers. The frosting is pink from the strawberries Mike lovingly mashed. We invited our wonderful neighbors Mr. Dan, Miss Betty, and Lucy to join us for cake and ice cream. They are some of Lydia's favorite people (ours too)! Here's Lydia showing Mr. Dan her new kid laptop. and getting birthday hugs from Miss Betty and Lucy. Hooray for 3!
