Valentine's Day at the Village

Yesterday, eager to get out of the house and see something new, we drove a half hour south to an "art village." It's apparently a place out in the middle of nowhere where an artist can stay for cheap and be inspired as they use the outdoor art studio facilities. It was pretty dead yesterday. We didn't get to see any artists at work, but we did get to feed their alpacas.

Bridget wasn't a huge fan at first. Here you can see her pulling her leg up to get away from them.

The nice lady told us all about the alpacas and the kids asked lots of good questions. The lady brought over a soft baby for us to see, which Bridget was finally brave enough to pet.

Bridget then decided to be like the big kids and grabbed a strand of hay from the bucket. She'd walk confidently over to the fence, but as soon as one got close she'd throw the hay at them and run away. It was hilarious how many times she did that.
That night the kids made their own heart pizzas. I love eating pizza in pajamas in front of a movie (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Nothing says romance like some lonesome polecats). Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Birthday to me!

A few weeks ago was my birthday! And I couldn't think of a better way to spend it than in the temple with my husband. So we made a family weekend trip down to Brisbane.  We had a fantastic time going to the temple and hanging out with friends. We've been blessed with such wonderful people in our lives! Brad and Hyacinth.

Me and my best friend Kelly!! We had breakfast and the kids swam in the pool! What a perfect morning!

The kids with our fabulous neighbor/babysitter Imogen and her pet turtle.

And more friends I didn't get pictures of, but we had a wonderful time with them all!
We scored a great deal at a fabulous apartment in Ascot. Check out the balcony!

My birthday cake was a tub of my favorite rhubarb yogurt and my candles were Swedish Fish! That's 3 and 3 for 33.

What a great birthday weekend! I love Brisbane!
Don't worry, I got a proper cake a few days later. One of our missionaries was going home so I promised I'd make him a cake when they came for dinner. Little did he realize it was partly for me! A lime cake with coconut milk frosting. It was so pretty!
