The simple adventures of our highly entertaining little family

We hope everyone had a happy Easter! Here's our family squinting in the sun at the Johnson & Johnson (and a couple other families) Easter egg hunt/dinner. It was a good Sunday, bitter sweet as it was our last Sunday, but we went out with a bang. Mike and I both gave talks in sacrament meeting and we each had to teach a lesson. Ha! But what a wonderful way to celebrate Easter by teaching about the Savior. That and to spend one last evening with Curtis and Kristi and kids, whom we'll miss so so much!
Isaac sat (sort of) unsupported for the first time on Sunday! He's getting so big!
And of course, no Easter is complete without lamb cake!
Well, we are moving out on Friday! Here we entertained the idea of just packing up the kids too.
But Isaac really didn't like that idea...
Mike and I did get to do one last wild and crazy thing before we left. We went to see the Blue Man Group last week! I won free tickets! Awesome!!! It was also the first time either of us had gone to a real live rock concert! We're like all grown up, we didn't have to ask our parents for permision or anything! It was an amazing show! Blue Man Group rocks! Flash a Floppie the Banjo clown hand puppet sign!It was also our last time to the Baton Rouge temple. Since Isaac has come our trips have been few and far between, but we got one last trip in. Thanks to niece Emily for helping out with Isaac in the waiting room. It will be nice to be close to a temple in St. Louis!

Well, this will be our last post for a while so I leave you one more Lydia and Isaac picture to hold you over til next time...

Now, many of you are wondering what a crawfish boil is...

First of all, meet the crawfish (aka mud bug - if that's not an appetizing title, I don't know what is).
Now you take these little buggers and put them in a big kiddie pool of water to flush them out (are you not deterred yet?)...

Then you put them in a big box to transport them...

to a big silver pot where they are boiled with lemons, corn, potatoes, sausage, and onions.

After which they're dumped on a table covered in newspaper and everyone digs in. I think the official terms are "rip, squeeze and suck" or something that sounds just as offensive. I wish I'd gotten some footage of the process, but I ate two and had enough.

Where do we start? Laura and Patrick came to visit us and take in the New Orleans experience before we moved away. We had a great time with them and were grateful for the excuse to do the toursity things one last time before we left. Here is one of my favorite photos from the whole weekend. Very non-touristy, but it shows darn good hygiene!

Not to gloss over the fun we had, but if you want to see great moments of our weekend together check out Yogurl and Manburger's blog.

We found a house in Missouri! Our house here closes on the 28th of March as does the one into which we're moving. Hooray for being in two places at one time. Technology these days! This is a general representation of our new house. When we looked at it, it had about 8 inches of snow everywhere. The things we get to look forward to!

Mike's birthday was yesterday! A whopping 27 years old! Here are the two men in my life. And my two layer "better than ..." cake that I made. Yum! (Mike likes to call it an "almost as good as..." cake.)

Also yesterday our branch had an Easter egg hunt. Here's Lydia checking to make sure there's candy rattling in her egg. And showing off her booty.

And what goes better with an Easter egg hunt than a crawfish boil? Why nothing of course! I'm so glad we got to experience one before we left. It was amazing how much fun the primary kids had with the live little buggers. Who needs pony rides? Here are some pictures of Mike and I getting in touch with our Louisianian side.

And yes, for all you observant people, I did cut my hair! Yes, really that short! I'm still getting used to it. My hair has gotten wavier since my Amanda Borden haircut in highschool so it's a bit crazy short. But I shalack it with a couple handfulls of mousse and it works. Mike really likes it. It's something I'd been wanting to do for a while, so Mike encouraged me to do it. I think my hair is unmanagable at any length, but people dig it once they get over the initial shock.
