The simple adventures of our highly entertaining little family

We had a wonderful family reunion with Mike's family in the Mexican colonies last week! Everyone in Mike's family was able to make it, which was awesome! Mom and Pop, and all the siblings, spouses, and kids. All 17 kids! And 13 adults. We stayed in a neat building that the bishop down there had built. It has 6 bedrooms and three full bathrooms. There were even bunkbeds. The best thing was it was just down the road from Grandma's which is where we spent most of our time anyway.

Grandma is 95 and still going strong. And she loves her great grandkids.
We took a tour of the family orchard... in a bus! We got to stop at the blackberry patch for fresh blackberries, then stopped at one of the irrigation reserviors to drink from the well pump (yee haw), then to pick peaches! Oh, I love those orchards!

And ripe peaches means canning for hours, which is fun with everyone working together. The rewards are fabulous! 24 mason jars full of peach goodness in our basement. Here's me and Mike's Mom peeling peaches.

Ahh, glorious food! From peaches and blackberries to Grandma's carnitas to tortes (pork sandwhiches slathered with avacado)! Then I got to try something new! Dogos (dough-go), a hotdog wrapped in bacon, put in an amazing bun and covered with diced onions, tomatoes, mustard, mayo, guacamole, beans and even mushrooms. Wow! Let me tell ya! That's a hot dog!

And here's Mike enjoying his...
We also had the neat opportunity of joining one of our cousins as she went through the temple.
The temple is such a neat presence in Colonia Jaurez . It's one of the first things you see when you enter the colonies and you can see it from Grandma's backyard.

We had such a wonderful time! Lydia loved being with her cousins and jumping on Grandma's trampoline (when it wasn't raining) and Isaac loved all the arms to hold him. Uncle Lester even let him drive the truck!

We love our family and are so grateful for the gospel that teaches us that we can be together in the eternities! Without having to drive for two days to see eachother. :)
