Us Fun Folk

The simple adventures of our highly entertaining little family

Our move to Houston put us just under an hour away from our wonderful Call's. We were friends at BYU and now we're together again! Our families are actually distant cousins (on Mike's side), but close friends. They have 4 wonderful kids, 3 of them close in age to our own! We couldn't ask for better people to be our relatives!

Last weekend we went camping with them! Well, sort of. It was in their backyard. The weather was PERFECT and there wasn't a single mosquito! It was awesome!
First we all loaded up and went to a park to take the kids fishing. Lydia even caught a fish!
We stayed at the park and had our tinfoil dinners and dutch oven peach cobbler! Yum!! Here's Ashley (5), Lydia, and Tyler (7).

Here's Isaac and Brandon being crazy 3 yr old boys.
Then we headed back to the Call/Johnson camping ground and went to sleep. We got two kids, a port-a-crib, and two adults in that tent! I realize now why I don't ever sleep in the same room with my kids because I hear every noise they make. Yeah, not a great sleep. Oh well. And what's ironic is their baby, Mia, was up crying for a time and I didn't hear a thing!

One of the best parts of camping is breakfast! Chad working on the fire. Mike and the kids supervised.

Mmm! Pancakes! Sydney showing off her mad pioneer cooking skills.
Evelyn was not a happy camper. Literally. It was hard waiting for those pancakes!
We all had such a great time!

My parents came into town for our spring break and we went to the Houston Livestock show! Yee-haw!

We went to see the cows (which I think was my favorite part). Opa and Isaac were excited to step in cow poop. Not really, they were just going to pretend to step in cow poop. Oma, on the other hand, actually did.

The animals were all set up in the indoor arena. Complete with an indoor cattle washing station. Only in Texas!

And we saw rabbits! A nice man brought us one of his show rabbits for us to pet.

Isaac and Lydia got their picture on a Texas Longhorn! How cool is THAT? Thanks Opa!

There was a great petting zoo where we got to pet llamas, sheep, BIG goats and tiny goats, pigs, chickens, and a deer!

There was even a butterfly house!

Oma took this picture, which was all too appropriate because Evelyn bit me! Darn that little tooth of hers!

But you can't stay mad when she's so cute! My little cowgirl!

What better way to end the day than with a relaxing shuttle ride back to parking. What a great day! We're so glad Oma and Opa were here to share it with us!

Evelyn got her first tooth today! At 9 months exactly. I've forgotten how cranky a teething baby can be, but here's a cute picture of her not cranky. And crawling all over.
And here's us having some fun at a park. Oh, how I love Southern winters!
And, inspired my awesome big sister, we had some volcano fun in the back yard.
