Spring Blossoms

The spring here is absolutely beautiful and I wish I had good pictures of all the gorgeous flowers.  Unfortunately most of them I’d see as I drive so I can’t get pictures.  Instead I just drive around and squeal “it’s so pretty!!!”

So first, in the middle of March, all the ornamental pears blossomed into white puffballs.  We have one in our side yard that I can enjoy while I’m at the kitchen sink.  Too bad the flowers sort of smell gross.  And my allergies were a total mess.

At the same time daffodils bloomed all OVER the city!  It was magical!  Apparently in the old settler days people planted them to mark property lines.  Here are some on the edge of the high school property.

Then were the light pink and white weeping cherry blossoms.  This one is at a neighbor’s house and the picture doesn’t do it justice.  I swoon over the willow too!  A ton of those around Clarksville!.
And the purple flowers of an eastern redbud tree.
My neighbor across the street has a kwanzan cherry tree which is just beautiful!  I didn't take this picture until a lot of the petals had already fallen off and the green leaves started to show through.  So imagine just a big ball of pink tissue paper!
Such pretty flowers!  My neighbor let us snip some for our kitchen counter.

Right now the dogwoods are in bloom and they are just dreamy!  They look like trees full of butterflies! These belong to a different neighbor.

And PINK dogwoods!  I didn’t even know they came in pink!

We saw Alice’s preschool has some little dogwoods so we had to stop and take pictures.  Pretty pretty!  It’s fitting that the preschool has preschool age trees.  :)

April Stuff

There is a path in our neighborhood that cuts between two houses so the kids can walk to and from school.  Often times it is mud.  So I got on the FB neighborhood page and started a conversation.
Here it is 2 weeks later!
I wasn’t ever present for the labor (because most of it was done on Sundays), but I take great pride in the fact that I got the ball rolling!  Neighbors donated pavers they had lying around, two men in the neighborhood did most of the work, and a lot of people donated money for the cost of extra pavers and sand.  Hooray!

Alice potting her blueberry “trees.”  We got 3 bushes.  2 different varieties because they say you’re supposed to.  We’re excited that they have lots of flowers and we cheer when we see bees pollinating them!  Hoping to get some blueberries this summer!

Lydia got her driving permit!
I got my first COVID vaccine.  I loved the drive through shot!  Way better to sit in my sunshiny car, listening to my music than sit in a cold waiting room for a half hour.
Evelyn has made a really great friend!  Loni is not only in our ward, but she’s also in her class at school!  She came home with us after school one day and they’re doing homework. (Look, Evelyn is actually smiling!)

My sauerkraut fermented!
We celebrated with Reuben sandwiches for dinner.  They were so good!  Isaac and I finished off the rest of the saurkraut.  I need to make more!  Too bad we have to wait a month to eat it.

Happy Easter!

On Good Friday we ventured down to Nashville to see the Parthenon.  It’s a true to scale replica that was built in 1897!  We didn’t go to the art museum inside, but really enjoyed the park outside.

Jumping down the steps.
And running through the columns.

What better way to enjoy Easter weekend than listening to Conference?  No pictures, but we loved it.  Our traditional Easter oatmeal for breakfast.

We squeezed in an Easter egg hunt.
We got Pop Rocks!  (Look at my pretty painted wall!  I love it sooooo much!  And if you look further you can see all the light blue swatches taped on the red wall in the dining room.  That room may get painted in the next few months.  Maybe.  It’s on the ever growing to-do list.)  (And yes, Lydia did dye her hair with Kool-aid.  That’s as wild as we get in this house.)

Lamb cake! This year we branched out and got Jolly Rancher jellybeans (instead of my go to Starburst jellybeans) and the blue worked well for the eyes.

Happy Easter!  We are so blessed to know of our Savior’s sacrifice and gift of life to us.
