Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter weekend and start to the kids' two week break!  First up, on Friday we participated in a 3k fun run.  Mike ran with Lydia and Isaac while pushing Bridget in the jogging stroller and I walked with Evelyn while pushing Alice in the other stroller.  It was great fun!
Off to McDonald's for breakfast then we watched the raft races for the Harbour Festival.
We went for a quick swim at a local pool
and were home for lunch just after noon.  What a productive morning!
Our Easter Sunday was lovely.  The kids enjoyed their Easter egg hunt which included the traditional Australian chocolate bilby.
Bridget found and caught a tiny gecko!  She was pretty proud of herself.
Where did it go?
Lydia and Isaac looking for their letters on their Oma and Opa cards.
No lamb cake on Easter this year, but I promised the kids I'd make one soon.  Just to prolong the spirit of Easter, right?

Mike had Easter Monday off as well and we went to the beach!  It was so gorgeous!  This was Alice's first trip to the beach and, as you can tell, she enjoyed it immensely.
Instead of our typical pb&j sandwiches, we decided to go crazy and bring sausages for our own sausage sizzle.  We love that public parks in Australia have these free gas grills.  Aussies know how picnic!
Evelyn's nature handiwork and eating sausages Aussie style in a slice of white bread. Good times!

Cute Baby Alice - 2 months

Eee!  Alice is such a sweet 2 month old doll baby!  Here are some random pictures.
I love baby ballet socks!
A rare smiling photo.  Who wouldn't be happy to be held by Daddy?
Asleep in the swing.
Chillin with Lydia on a lazy Saturday morning.
Tummy time.
Alice on the floor?  Us too!

4 Years and Counting

A couple weeks ago we celebrated 4 years of being in Australia!
We celebrated with meat pies for dinner.
And exotic coconut lime sorbet cones in our beautiful Australian backyard!
Four years in Australia and two Aussie babies (well not really Aussies, we're on the wrong visa for them to claim any citizenship, but I like to call them my Aussie babies because I can).  Alice spends a lot of time being cute and sleeping, as six week old babies tend to do.  Here she's asleep on the floor and Bridget decided to join her, bringing her pillow and blanket.  I love that she wanted to hold her hand.

Bridget learned how to hold up two fingers!  I think it's funny that kids are well into being two years old before they figure out how to hold up their age on their fingers.  It's hard to coordinate all those moving parts!  She was pretty proud of herself.
We have been so lucky to be in Australia!  In a place where you can find giant spiders in the grocery store...
And have a tropical oasis in your backyard.  In February.
We also get to do exciting things like visit Yogurtland, which may not seem very Australian, but when it's the most exciting place to eat in this small city it's pretty special.
We did get to do something super cool last week!  We went to a roller derby!
Evelyn and Bridget were pretty bored, but Lydia and Isaac loved it!
How's that for a family photo?  We feel so blessed to live in this amazing place!
