Wow, is it the middle of January already?! We've had a great year so far! Amanda and Luke (my older sister and her husband) came down the first week of January to visit! They came from Boston, so maybe they just came for the weather. :) It was so great to have them here! I do love my sisters so much!

A big thing down here in New Orleans is king cakes. Fantastic filled braided bread smothered with frosting and oh so fabulous! Amanda and I made my very first one together! This is before it was slathered with cream cheese frosting! Yum! It'll take some practice as you can see the blueberry filling leaked out quite a bit, but it sure was tasty! Don't worry Momma and Daddy, we'll make one when you're here next week! We did get out of the house, believe it or not. In fact we took them to see the French Quarter, the Aquarium, and downtown New Orleans. And this is Amanda and I in front of cypress trees in a genuine Louisianian bayou! Luke thought it vaguely creepy and was keeping an eye out for velociraptors. What a good brother-in-law. It's fun to play hostess, especially with such easy houseguests. We had a wonderful time! And we can't wait to see my parents next week! Wow, what a great January!
