Summer fun
Some fun things we've gotten to do this summer. We had a visitor in our yard. A red eared slider turtle. She was big!
I made my first wedding cake! Not for a wedding, thank goodness, but for book club (we read The Princess Bride). It was simple, but a good learning experience.
Mike and I got to go axe throwing for a date night! They take a bunch of people and put them in two teams and play games. It was fun and Mike was good! Mmm hmm!
I got to attend the naturalization ceremony for a friend of mine. It was such a tender experience. It made me so grateful to live in this free country.
Had a gorgeously cool Saturday so we went to the zoo. We even went on the Dinosaur boat ride because Bridget felt that she was "old enough." Last year she was scared to do it. Alice, on the other hand, spent most of the time with her face in my chest.
Lydia and I got to help out at the bishop's stone house early one morning. We had so much fun. And it was neat to think that Opa helps unload the orders for the Liberty Ward miles away.
It was "Mormon Night" at the Columbus Clippers baseball stadium and we got cheap tickets. (Is that not weird?) A group of missionaries sang the Star Spangled Banner and someone in the stake threw the first pitch. True to the theme there were a ton of LDS people in the crowd. The kids with Lou Seal. (Get it?). Notice Alice is not in the picture. She was not going near that thing.Dollar movie on a Wednesday morning. They were playing Storks, which we like. When Alice would get scared she'd pull my hand to cover her face, but she lasted the whole movie in the theatre!
We went to Inniswood Gardens and I saw a beautifully dressed couple and offered to take their picture for them. Then they turned around and wanted to take our picture for us. "These are all your children? You're not a teacher?" It was funny because as she was taking our picture on my camera he was taking pictures of us on his.
