Summer 2017

I'm going to post this crazy summer in one sitting.  Watch this!  We landed in Houston and got to spend a week with Ben and Karen and family.
And played with our wonderful Calls.
We drove up to Ohio to visit my parents.  On our way we stopped at the Louisville, Kentucky temple where Mike and I were married 14 years ago.  Look at us now!
Oma and Opa took us to Eddie's house and we fed peppermints to tiny horses.
And had a great time chopping wood.  Although Opa can chop circles around us!
For all our help Eddie treated us to the Cone!
We went fishing and didn't catch much, but we still had fun.
Lydia went shooting for the first time.
Mmm... donuts!
Then we headed across the country to Utah for the Johnson family reunion.  (Where for some reason I can't get the pictures to work.  So just pretend.)

We spent a few days with Amanda and Luke and family in Orem.  We went to the Dinosaur Museum.

We walked around UVU and saw this breathtaking stained glass mural, Roots of Knowledge.  This is only like a tenth of it.  I could have spent hours there.

And played in a creek.  It was so beautiful!

We also journeyed over to Twin Falls, Idaho to see our dear friends the Bucks!

They took us to this beautiful waterfall.
We spent most of the summer in Idaho Falls, Idaho with Mom and Pop while we figured out where our future would take us.  It was a... stressful summer, but we were lucky to spend it with family.
Look what I did!  Mad skills.
My skills do not usually extend to craftiness, but I did join in helping Mom Johnson make birthday cards.  That woman is a machine.
That face!!!
We got to see our nephew Jacob off on his mission to Concepcion, Chile.
A hot springs in the middle of nowhere, but was way cool.
A lake.
Ammon Days was an amazing local fair and it was all free!  Such a blast.
They sprayed soapy foam and the kids went crazy.  So cool!
Also at Ammon Days the kids got to try to catch trout in a wading pool.  No luck, but it was fun to watch!
Uncle Joseph and Aunt Shera have a boat and they took us out on the lake.  Amazing!  Bridget even got out there on the raft.

Beautiful cousins.
Isaac was so lucky to spend a few days with Aunt Shera's boys.  Get away from all those girls?  Happily!
In the middle of August Mike accepted a job in Columbus, Ohio!  Back in the car to my parents' house.  Wait weren't we just there?  Funny how life happens. Here we are eating donut holes from our favorite donut place in St Louis.
While we waited for things to progress with the job in Columbus we hung out with my parents.  We took the kids to the Cincinnati Zoo where I interned before Mike and I got married.  They fed a giraffe!
We also got to celebrate Bridget's birthday with Oma and Opa!  Next post.  We'll let her have her own.
But what a crazy and fun journey we had that summer!  Cousins galore!  The kids will always rank this summer as one of their best.

What a busy and exciting summer! So glad you guys are settled in Columbus now, but not as glad as I'm sure you are.

Okay I actually mostly decided I had to post a comment after I saw the shooting picture. Way to go Lydia! I can't believe that grouping for a 12 year old shooting for the first time! Very impressive. I'm sure Opa was thrilled.
