Looking Pretty

We had a big week of looking good!  We had our abbreviated Thanksgiving which was eating pumpkin pie as our after school snack.  But I made it special by getting out the pretty tablecloth and the nice glasses.  Happy Thanksgiving!  (Notice the longest hair that Isaac's ever had.  He got a haircut on Saturday.)

This was also the prettiest pumpkin pie I have ever made, which, by comparison, means I've made some pretty bad looking ones!   It was delicious though!

The reason our Thanksgiving feast was limited to pie was because that night was Lydia's Year 6 graduation dinner.  In Australia 7th grade is high school!  Yikes!  Isn't she pretty?

I've really got to hand it to Lydia, the girl comes prepared.  The attire for the students was "semi-formal."  Judging by the lax of classiness in past events I assumed she would be the nicest looking one in her lovely black velvet dress and dressy sandals.  Well, we pulled into the parking lot and the girls were in cocktail dresses!  Well, Lydia had some tricks up her sleeve.  She'd brought along her heels and a strand of pearls and she instantly upped her level!  Clever girl!  Here she is announcing a speaker.

After dinner there was a "disco" (a dance).  Daddy daughter dance!
I got to dress up last week too for Mike's work Christmas party.  I felt so pretty in my pearls and floor length emerald green silk skirt!  Check out Mike's mo, which he has amazingly raised $1000 with!
On Sunday everyone looked so nice for the Primary Presentation, but I got no pictures.  I was too busy running around with my head cut off before it and too relieved afterwards to give pictures any thought.
Yesterday for Family Home Evening we started setting up the tree.  Sometimes, depending on time, we do it in two stages.  One night to get it out, put it together and fluff it out, then the ornaments for the second night.  Last night was our setting up night.  And we realized only half our lights work anymore!  Ha!  Good thing we have a couple extra strands of lights!  We're all excited to make it extra pretty tonight!  Hooray for Christmas!

What a beautiful graduate. Wonderful family, Children growing so fast. Great mustache on Mike. Thanks for doing all you do for men's cancer. It will be a big change to go from High School to Middle School or Jr High, whatever they will call it when you return. Love Opa

We have the same problem with our tree. Thank goodness for strands of lights to fill in the dark spots. I like your two-part decorating plan; we may adopt that for next year. Lydia is such a lovely young lady! Glad she thought to be prepared :)
