New Zealand: not all fun and games

I'll get back to beautiful New Zealand in a minute, but I wanted to let you know our vacation was not without some drama. Evelyn was up hacking a couple nights and got pretty miserable.

We were able to take her to a clinic after church.

The doctor's office was actually lovely. Friendly receptionists, a fish tank (every waiting room should have a fish tank), good books to read to the kids. The doctor himself was delightful. Well, it turned out Evelyn had double ear infections and tonsillitis.
We left the doctor's office and pharmacy in Rotorua and drove up to our hotel in Auckland. On the way we stopped at the temple and visitor's center in Hamilton.

What a nice touch to a nontypical Sunday!

Well, back to the "no fun" topic: in the course of our vacation we discovered Lydia had lice. So we bought a lice comb and started our family combing sessions every night.
Then one day in Auckland Isaac was down with a fever. Luckily, there was a trampoline at the hotel just outside our back door so the girls could have some fun.

Who says family vacations are vacations? Never a dull moment. Thankfully, the kids were quick to recover and we were able to go have more fun.

Oh man. Just can't catch a break! I hope it was really quick to recover...
