Birthdays!

Evelyn's 2nd birthday was on Saturday! What better way to celebrate than to pet kangaroos?

We headed over to Lone Pine, lucky to escape the rain for a few hours.

Funny story. We were petting the kangaroos when one of the kids asked what kangaroos said and I replied that I didn't know. Just then Lydia approached a cranky one and it growled! Who knew? It must have been all petted out.
That evening we got to decorate cupcakes with little candy animal face pieces that Oma and Opa sent. What fun!

It was actually a good thing we did cupcakes because when Evelyn blew out her candle...

she used her nose! Ha! But she got it!
We bought Evelyn a Fisher Price tea set, which she absolutely loves!

Doesn't Mike look excited?

And Lydia's 7th birthday was on Monday! She's never had a birthday on a school day! (Remember school here starts late January, has 3 two-week breaks, and ends in early December.) So after school we had a few of Lydia's classmates and their mums come play. Of course, we had to share cake with them! Here's Lydia's ever requested doll cake.

And the best part of having friends over then leave before dinner was that we got another piece of cake after dinner! Yay! There's no such thing as too much cake! Lydia got double wishes on her birthday.

For her birthday we got her a pink CD player to replace the one she just got last Christmas and had to leave behind because of conflicting outlets and voltage. But what she really loved was her gift from Oma...

make-up! But it's only for dress-up. Oma bought good make-up! Almay eye shadow, Burt's Bees lip shimmer, Cover Girl blush! Nice! Lydia was so thrilled!
Happy birthday to my two, sweet girls! Evelyn is spunky and won't take no for an answer. She IS two, after all. And has had to learn to stand up to Isaac once or twice. But she is sweet and loving and loves to help clean up... After she dumps everything out first.
Lydia is a beaming, beautiful girl. This move to Australia has been the best thing for her. She has gained so much confidence here, being the new American girl in her class. You should have seen the flock of girls that swarmed her the first day of school! She is kind and generous and loves to share. I am so blessed!
P.S. We also had quite the good time opening the extra stowaway package Oma and Opa sent to dote on Isaac. A cowboy shirt and vest, plus bandanas for everyone! Yee haw!

Love the pictures! Evelyn is so cute with that headband on. I can't believe Lydia is old enough to play with make-up! I remember playing with Momma's box of leftovers and thinking it was sooo cool :)

Glad your things finally got there. I can't believe how quickly time has past and that Evelyn is ALREADY 2. Wish your girls Happy Birthday for us.
